About

Hello and welcome to 8th grade math. My name is Chantel Nelson and I am thrilled to be part of the Mills Park Middle School Leopards. I am honored to join a supportive and inclusive community.

I graduated from North Carolina State University with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Music Performance  and a Master's of Education, with a concentration in math.  Currently, I am pursuing a master’s degree in psychology at Harvard. I am a lifelong learner and hope to earn my doctorate.

This will be my 3rd year teaching math in middle school.  These years are a critical time for building positive academic self esteem. I love nothing more than building strong student-teacher relationships while fostering the love of math! 

My family is from Panama, and I enjoy going to visit them whenever possible. I am a huge foodie so you can find me eating around town on the weekends with my husband and three kids. I also love cuddling with my insanely cute dog, Banjo, and reading together.
